What is the solar powered Cap ?
It is a fully functional and very practical headlamp integrated into a fashionable cap. The lights are at a downward angle which shines about two meters forward with a single bright wide beam. You may adjust the angle of the beam by tilting the cap up or down. In a dark place the beam penetrates 10 metres.
While you wear the hat during the day the solar panels recharge the batteries. The solar panels will also recharge the batteries even if the cap is left on a car window sill. The Solar Cap will then provide 2 - 4 hours light at full power, or all night at the low setting. The batteries will also hold their charge for months if you don't use it - making it the perfect solution for a car breakdown at night.
Can I read with it?
Yes, easily. Even when dimmed to low power.
Do the bulbs or batteries have to be replaced?
This product uses the highest quality components and comes with a one year manufacturers warranty on parts and labor. The electronics will operate for years to come. The batteries are engineered to last for an estimated 3 years. The LED lights will last for over 100,000 hours of use. The solar panel will be generating power for many years to come. Some discoloration of the plastic may occur with prolonged exposure to the sun.
Can I bend the peak shape, or wash the cap ?
The peak is partially flexible and pre-bent to the optimum shape for charging. Excessive bending will void warranty. The solar cap is rated to IP76 standard which means you can send 100 litres of water onto its sonic welded seals, bigger than any storm we can imagine, but please only short duration immersion, and hand wash only. It floats for a while. Machine washing will void warranty.
Is the cap comfortable?
3 years of research and development went into the design to ensure a comfortable weight and fit, with an optimum power to weight ratio. It is also simple to operate with one toggle style switch for on / off and to select a high or low setting.
The Polar cap style is great for our winter weather - perfect for skiing, snow boarding or just long walks. The pure wool outer & viscose inner will keep your head & ears very cosy. Twin buttons secure the ear flaps - there when when you need them just like the light.
